Managing Partner Dr. Bahaa Alieldean: Primary bond market mature, stimulating the secondary market requires awareness
June 30, 2021Senior and Managing Partner at ALC Alieldean Weshahi & Partners, Dr. Bahaa Alieldean, told Al Borsa newspaper that bond issuances and securitization transactions have reached nearly EGP 24 billion over the past year, noting that the securitization market has matured to a large degree over the past decade without a need for amendments to the executive regulations since they were first announced in 2005.
That said, Dr. Alieldean described trading volumes in the primary and secondary markets as weak, and noted that the Financial Regulatory Authority is working to boost trading volumes through legislative amendments geared towards revitalizing the market.
